The Story of BElles IN the Meadow
Belles in the Meadow as a tournament started in 2007. The brainchild of two Enniskerry FC club members, Messrs Bennett and Molloy. The objective was to promote the participation of girls in organised team sport. Out of little acorns………
Roll on to 2020… Belles in the Meadow is now Irelands’ largest girls football tournament, a 2 day event now in its 14th year catering for girls aged 6-16years. The tournament has grown consistently in size year on year, with 2019 seeing Belles host over 25 clubs , 90 teams , 900 players and 3000 football fans from all over Ireland.
There’s always a festival atmosphere with trophies and medals to win but more importantly Belles in the Meadow strives to promote participation in team sports by young and teenage girls in a fun environment and in doing so provides a platform for clubs, coaches and players alike to engage.
Belles in the Meadow is now one of Enniskerry Football Clubs flagship events.
